FAQs

I'm BRAND NEW to Pilates. Where should I start?!

Welcome! Firstly, get ready for your life to change. Secondly, grab one of our introductory offers which will give you 2 class credits to try any 2 classes at the studio of your choice. Since we keep our classes intentionally intimate with small numbers, they are suitable for all levels. For Mat, we'd recommend starting with our Signature Mat class. For Reformer, we'd recommend starting with Core. Please let the instructor know on arrival that you are new so they can give you a quick overview of how things will work and please ask any questions you may have. No matter your level of experience, you will be very welcome!

I'm pregnant/post-partum – can I come to class?

Congratulations! Pilates is a safe, effective workout that can be continued in pregnancy. Up to 12 weeks, you will be able to attend any of our regularly scheduled classes. Please do discreetly let the teacher know before class that you are pregnant so they can be aware, and please do go at your own pace. After 12 weeks, we'd recommend only attending specific classes run by teachers who are pre/post natal trained. In Leith, this is Barre and Barre Sculpt with Beth C. In East Lothian, this is pre/post natal Reformer with Denise.

For post-partum, please wait until your 6-week check up from the GP. If you've been given the all clear to exercise, you will be welcome at any class. Again, please do let the teacher know ahead of class that you are recovering from pregnancy/child birth. For post-partum specific classes, join Denise in East Lothian for pre/post-natal reformer alongside our BYB (bring your baby) Mat.

I have an injury/medical condition – can I come to class?

Pilates originated as a rehab exercise so it's one of the best things you can do to help your body recover from an injury or help manage a condition. Please do make sure you've spoken to your GP and/or seen a Physiotherapist to ensure they are happy for you to attend Pilates and so that you can tell us exactly what your injury/condition is and what advice you have been given in terms of what to avoid etc. Our instructors are fantastic teachers but they are not Doctors or Physiotherapists so please ensure you get professional advice first.

I need to cancel my class/membership. How do I do this?

Log into your Arketa profile, navigate to your drop down menu and you will see the tab 'bookings'. This will show all active bookings and give you the option to cancel. Please remember that our cancellation policy is that: any cancellation made more than 12 hours before a class start stime results in your credit being returned for a future booking; any cancellation made less than 12 hours before class start time results in your credit being forfeited. If you do not cancel and fail to attend your class, you will forfeit your credit AND be charged our no show fee.

For Unlimited Members, a £15 late cancellation/no show fee applies. If you cancel less than 12 hours before a class start time OR if you fail to attend a booking, you will be charged £15.

Memberships can be cancelled via the same dashboard. Please note that memberships can only be cancelled once the required 3 month minimum initial commitment has elapsed.

I've been charged £5/£15 – why?

A £5 charge from maeve is our no show fee on any drop ins/class packs. This is automatically applied by the system if you fail to attend a class/are not checked in by the teacher. If you believe this has been done in error, please email hello@atmaeve.com so we can look into this.

Can I share my class pack or membership with my friend?

No, our class packs and membership are not designed to be shared. Only the purchaser/member can use their credits to book themselves a spot in class. Anyone found to be attempting to share class packs/memberships will be asked to leave.

If you want to book your friend in so you can attend class together, you can do this by purchasing a drop in and selecting "book for a guest" at the checkout page.

What is your latecomer policy?

We ask all class attendees to get to the studio 5 minutes before your class starts. This is to give enough time for you to get checked in, prepared and ready for class with no huge rush.

We have a strict no latecomers policy – doors are locked/buzzers are switched off when the class starts. If you arrive after the class start time, you will not be let in and you will be marked as a no show (forfeiting your class credit). Late admittance to a class would be disruptive to the teacher, the other clients and the overall flow of a class, as well as being a matter of your safety and ensuring you are adequately warmed up. We hope you can understand and we encourage you to plan ahead.

Do you offer student discount?

Yes! A 10% student discount can be applied to drop ins, 5-class and 10-class packs. Use the code STUDENT at checkout and please bring your student ID with you to class so we can confirm this. If you do not bring a valid student ID, we will have to charge you the difference.
